Register now for Defender Days 2025
It's time to register for Defender Days, Dordt University's parent and alumni weekend held on October 17-18.
WOW, is an event designed to immerse new students into campus culture and community, while also acclimating them to what college might be like before classes start.
Week of Welcome (WOW) 2025 kicks off the weekend of August 22 at Dordt University.
An event designed to immerse new students into campus culture and community while also helping them adjust to college life, WOW is a great time for students to make friends, get comfortable with campus, and settle into their new home-away-from-home.
The weekend is packed with plenty of events. To see a full schedule, visit https://www.dordt.edu/wow.
College is often viewed primarily as an academic experience, but for academics to thrive, students must also feel supported socially, relationally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically, says Eric Tudor, executive director of strategy and innovation.
“That’s really the purpose of WOW weekend: to surround students with friends, mentors, and guides who can walk with them in this holistic growth and set them up throughout their time at Dordt.”
Tudor says that one of the most impactful events of the weekend is the Welcoming Celebration, as it “is such a powerful moment for students, their families, and our campus community. It beautifully illustrates the supportive, Christ-centered environment that Dordt offers new students.”
He also says the Saturday evening Ice Cream Social hosted by Admissions is a hit. “It’s the first chance for students to build relationships across their entire class in a relaxed, informal way,” he adds. “Each year, we even challenge one another to spot a cell phone—and we almost never succeed. Students are fully present, forming genuine, face-to-face connections with their new classmates.”
