Dordt Artist to Present Senior Art Show "Way"

Danikka Jackson to present her senior art show "Way"

Danikka Jackson, a senior art major at Dordt University, will showcase her senior art show “Way” from April 19 to May 7. “Way” will be on display in the Art Department’s gallery, which is located in the Ribbens Academic Complex.

"'Way' is a lament and a warning but, ultimately, it offers hope," says Jackson.

“Let people find their way through my imaginary world to a better understanding of the world we live in,” she shares. “Let them find the ‘way’ through the waters to the mountain of the Lord.”

The artist’s reception for the show will be held on Monday, May 3, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Jackson is an art major with a fine arts studio emphasis and has a minor in English. When Jackson graduates, she hopes to return to her home in Oaxaca, Mexico to teach art.

“I really like how varied the art program at Dordt is, allowing me to be able to work in mediums that I would not have otherwise been able to dabble in,” says Jackson. “I also really appreciate the professors giving me creative freedom and letting me try just about any idea I suggested, even if it didn't always work.”

As an institution of higher education committed to the Reformed Christian perspective, Dordt University equips students, faculty, alumni, and the broader community to work toward Christ-centered renewal in all aspects of contemporary life.
