Senior Art Show "One In Many" On Display in April and May

Devyn Driesen will display senior art show "One In Many" in April and May

Devyn Driesen, a Dordt University art and design major from Orange City, Iowa, will have a senior art show “One in Many” on display April 25 to May 13 in the Dordt Ribbens Academic Complex lobby.

Driesen’s show is a series of acrylic on wood paintings that depict individuals and their complexities. She was inspired by conversations in her classes this past year around diversity and individuality, leading her to highlight people’s differences.

“Over my time at Dordt, I have been blessed to get to know and love countless people, all who are very different from each other,” says Driesen. “People are worth getting to know, and the things that make us different should be embraced and loved. The pieces I have created are a celebration of that individuality and an examination of the characteristics, passions, and stories that make the people I love unique.”

While the large work shows a mass of people in a crowd, the small pieces illustrate that people are more than just a face in the crowd.
