Dordt University is now accepting applications for their Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, which will begin in the fall 2024 semester. The MBA program is 100 percent online, can be completed in two years, and requires a total of 36 credits.

Dordt’s MBA program is designed to equip those called to service in the for-profit and nonprofit sector with the tools of stewardship, servant leadership, and discernment needed to achieve success in management and leadership roles.

For those interested in an MBA offering a faith-based approach, Dordt’s MBA program is a great fit, says Professor of Business Dr. Tim Klein.

“There is a lack of faith-based MBA programs in existence,” he says. “And what the business world really needs right now is Christian leaders to step in and make a difference. In the last few decades, we have seen a growing number of cases of unethical and illegal behavior that has rocked the American business world. Greed and a decreasing regard for fellow humans demonstrate the need for a new kind of business leader who can firmly stand on biblical principles when it comes to pursuing business interest.”

The program is geared toward working professionals in business or organizational leadership seeking higher levels of training in areas such as Christian leadership, management principles, accounting, marketing, project management, human resource management, business law, and entrepreneurship.

"What the business world really needs right now is Christian leaders to step in and make a difference."

Dordt’s MBA program is also a great option for individuals who did not major in business as undergraduates but are working and leading in the business sector.

“For someone who has an undergraduate business degree, this is a rigorous MBA program,” says Dr. Leah Zuidema, vice president for academic affairs. “For those who earned an undergraduate degree in programs like engineering or computer science and would like more knowledge related to organization leadership and principles, this program is a great option.”

Dordt’s MBA program includes a foundations course that will get non-business majors up to speed in areas like accounting, finance, and economics. The program will also provide real-world scenarios that directly relate to students’ professional lives.

“One of our goals through this MBA program is to help students be able to apply what they’re learning into their daily professional work,” adds Klein.

Joe Bakker, dean for online, graduate, and partner programs, thinks that the flexible format will be a major benefit. “Our professors designed the MBA program to work with a busy person’s schedule,” he says. “Also, the program of study allows room for students to choose some electives based on their interest.”

Zuidema is excited that a Christian worldview is embedded in every aspect of the MBA program and that there are experienced business professors at the helm.

“In this MBA program, everything about the course—the curriculum, the instruction, the activities, the interpersonal interactions—is based on a Reformational worldview: God created and sustained everything, and his law and plan for human flourishing applies to everything. This goes beyond being a kind person and not stealing; this should impact every level of operating a business, so that we are, as our mission statement says, ‘working toward Christ-centered renewal in all areas of life,’ including in the business world. I’m confident that this MBA program is going to make a difference for our graduates and all the people that they serve.”
