Dordt music department hosts spring instrumental ensembles concert

Dordt University’s music department will present an instrumental ensembles concert on Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

Dordt University’s music department will present an instrumental ensembles concert on Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

The concert will feature performances by the Wind Symphony, Chamber Orchestra, and Campus-Community Band. Selections will include works by Nitsch, Seitz, Stamps, Fillmore, Holsinger, and Mackey.

Composer-in-residence John Mackey will also be on campus for the event. He will work directly with the Wind Symphony and Campus Band in preparation for their performances of several of his works. The Campus Band will perform “Foundry,” “Sheltering Sky,” and “Let Me Be Frank With You,” while the Wind Symphony will present his first symphony for band, “Wine-Dark Sea.”

Additionally, Mackey will host a Q&A session on Thursday, April 30 from 1:50 to 3:05 p.m. All are invited to attend.
