Dordt University’s annual alumni survey continues to provide meaningful insight into how graduates remain connected to the university and how their experiences at Dordt shape life beyond graduation.
Recent survey results show that nearly 95% of respondents report attending church weekly, demonstrating a sustained pattern of engagement in local congregations among alumni and reflecting the long-term impact of the university’s Christ-centered learning community.
The strong level of reported church involvement is seen as a continuation of habits formed during students’ time on campus, including weekly chapel services, Praise and Worship, and living and participating in a Christ-centered community.
Additionally, Dordt encourages students to find a local church home during their college years. “At Dordt, we are deeply committed to helping students develop practices that sustain lifelong faith. An essential part of this is encouraging students to participate and invest in local congregations,” says Dr. Justin Bailey, dean of chapel at Dordt.
“We help students think through what this might look like, connect them with churches, and provide rides when necessary. We hope they leave Dordt prepared to serve, connected to the body of Christ wherever God leads them.”
The annual survey is distributed to approximately one-third of alumni each year on a rotating basis, reaching every third reunion cohort. This approach ensures broad representation across graduating classes while maintaining consistent opportunities for alumni feedback.
“Our goal is to hear directly from alumni about how they are staying connected to Dordt and how they would like to remain connected in the future,” says Kaysha Steiger, director of alumni and parent relations at Dordt. “Their feedback helps us better understand their experiences and identify ways we can strengthen alumni engagement and communication.”
The survey is designed to give alumni a platform to share their perspectives on their post-graduation experiences, as well as to offer input on how the university can enhance its alumni programs and outreach efforts.
“We are grateful for the alumni that participate in the alumni survey and share their feedback with us,” Steiger says. “It helps us think more broadly about how alumni stay connected, how we serve our students and alumni, and how the university experience continues to influence lives after Dordt.”
