Krohn Named Director of ASB Sports Complex

(Thursday, April 20; Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt University and the City of Sioux Center have announced Carrie Krohn will be the director of the American State Bank (ASB) Sports Complex which is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in fall 2022.

“Dordt is delighted Carrie has agreed to serve as director of the ASB Sports Complex. Carrie’s wide and varied work experiences makes her a great fit for this position. She has exhibited an ability to strategize projects and see them through to completion in her past endeavors. Those experiences will serve her well as she collaborates with both internal and external entities to bring forward programs to benefit Dordt and the City of Sioux Center in this venture,” said Dordt director of athletics Ross Douma.

Krohn has worked at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, since graduating in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. She has been an admissions counselor, sports information assistant, coordinator of the study abroad program, financial aid assistant and most recently a cross country and track and field assistant coach.

“Wherever God has placed me in the past or where he might place me in the future, I am his disciple. If this is how I approach my work, I am more likely to honor what I do and with whom I do it. If we see our work as part of being a disciple, working within an institution’s framework can be a God-honoring experience,” said Krohn.

The ASB Sports Complex is an indoor turf facility that will offer year-round soccer, softball, football, baseball and more. The complex will allow for multiple practices and workouts to be administered simultaneously. Community events such as city recreation programming, youth athletic leagues and clinics and other activities will be held at the complex. It is estimated more than 200,000 visitors will make use of the facility each year.

“On behalf of the City of Sioux Center, we are excited to have Carrie on board and leading our partnership with Dordt University in this new venture of the ASB Sports Complex. Carrie has an extremely elevated level of passion and drive and will do an excellent job of leading the team to make this facility a top destination for the community,” said City of Sioux Center city manager Scott Wynja.
