Baseball Gets Ready For Four With Mount Marty


Dordt will host Mount Marty in a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday, April 9 and Monday, April 11.  The Saturday games start at 1:00 and the Monday games at 4:00.

Mount Marty is 24-8 this season and 9-3 in the GPAC and has won four in a row since an April 2 split with Morningside.

The Lancers are led on offense by Jet Weber with a .385 batting average to go with 45 hits and 15 runs batted in and he has 10 stolen bases. Mason Townsend is batting .375 with 27 hits and Billy Hancock has a .370 batting average with a team high 10 homeruns and 26 runs batted in.

Clayton Chipchase is 5-2 with a 2.18 earned run average and has 39 strikeouts. Myles Brown is 4-1 with a 2.50 earned run average and Tyler Priest is 4-1 with 24 strikeouts. Brown has a team best 53 strikeouts against just nine walks.  The Lancers have a team earned run average of 3.53.


The Defenders are 10-18 this season and 6-6 in the GPAC.

Logan Cline is batting .417 with 40 hits and 13 doubles with four homeruns and 14 runs batted in and he has swiped 14 stolen bases. Luke November is batting .373 with 28 hits and has a team best 19 runs batted in. Nolan Christianson has 21 hits and a .273 batting average and he has scored 16 runs.

Gyeongju Kim is 5-2 in six starts and has pitched 47 innings and has 77 strikeouts with 13 walks and a 2.09 earned run average. Logan Horne and Diego Benitez each have two wins this season with Horne holding a 4.70 earned run average and Benitez has 34 strikeouts in 32 innings and Horne has 40 strikeouts in 30 innings.


Mount Marty took three of four last season on April 23 and 24 in Yankton and leads the series 83-28 since it began in 1985.


Mount Marty’s most recent outing was a 9-1 win over Dakota State on April 5. Jared Miller got the win after going six innings and struck out six with two bases on balls. Josh Roemen and Jet Weber each had three hits for the Lancers.

Dordt earned a 4-0 win over Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday, April 2 behind a nine strikeout performance by Logan Horne in seven innings and Nick Yeager got the save with two innings of work. Cline and November each had three hits and two runs batted in with Cline scoring two runs and Christianson also had two runs scored.
