de Jong Added To Defender Basketball

(Thursday, April 7, 2022; Sioux Center, Iowa) Willem de Jong, a senior at Kalamazoo Christian High School (Michigan), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.
De Jong averaged 10.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, three assists, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game and is listed as a 6-3 guard. He earned first team all-conference, all-area Kalamazoo Dream Team honors along with academic all-state honors and twice was a second team all-conference selection.
“Dordt felt like the perfect place where I could feel at home and further my relationship with Christ,” said de Jong.
Willem is the son of Rudolf and Gina de Jong of Hartford, Michigan. He is undecided on a field of study.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
