Men's Track and Field At SDSU

The Event... The Dordt University men's track and field team will compete in the DII Open, a meet hosted by South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D., this weekend. The one-day event gets underway on Friday, Jan.21 at 1:30pm at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.

This is the fourth of seven regular season meets during the indoor season, prior to the GPAC Championship on Feb. 18-19.

Teams Competing...More than a dozen teams are scheduled to compete this weekend, including several from the NCAA D-II, D-III and NAIA ranks. Dordt is one of six from the NAIA to compete, joining Dakota State, Dakota Wesleyan, Mount Marty, Morningside and Northwestern.

Last Time Competing...Two Dordt University men's track and field athletes met the automatic qualifying standard at last week's home meet, the Dordt Indoor Open.

Joe Anderson edged out Davis Tebben to win the mile as both runners qualified for nationals. Anderson finished with a time of 4:18.33, currently the best time in the GPAC, while Tebben clocked a time of 4:18.6, second best in the conference.

Defender athletes won eight events and finished among the top five in a total of 27 events.
