GPAC Men's Basketball Poll Released

(Wednesday; October 20; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Great Plains Athletic Conference has announced the results of the 2021-22 Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll for the upcoming season and the Defenders are seventh in the voting.

Dordt posted an 18-8 record last season and finished 13-7 in the GPAC which was good enough for a sixth-place finish in the league.   The Defenders return three of their top-five scorers from a year ago led by Jacob Vis (Junior; Rock Valley, Iowa) with a 12.5 points per game average to go with 6.0 rebounds. Cade Bleeker (Junior; Sioux Center, Iowa) added 10.6 points per game last season while converting 36.1 percent of his three-point shots.  Bryce Coppock (Sophomore; Hawarden, Iowa) returns after scoring 9.5 points per game in his freshman campaign and he converted nearly 40 percent of his three-point shots.  Bleeker and Coppock made 44 and 43 three-point baskets respectively.

Dordt opens the season October 22 and 23 at a four-team tournament hosted by Governor’s State in Chicago, Illinois and will host a pair of games on October 29 and 30 against Mayville State and Valley City State.  The Defenders will open the 2021-22 GPAC season on November 17 at Morningside.

Morningside is the pre-season favorite after winning the regular season title last year and Jamestown was just a point shy in the standings after posting a 22-9 record.  Morningside was 21-6 in 2020-21.
