Volleyball 18th In NAIA Poll

(Wednesday, September 29; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt Defender volleyball team is rated no. 18 in the most recent NAIA Coaches’ Top-25 Poll released on Wednesday, September 29.  The Defenders are currently 10-4 with all four losses coming to teams rated in the top-15 of this week’s poll.

Dordt totaled 274 points in the voting done by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and Unaffiliated Groups.  Taylor is a spot in front of the Defenders with 278 points.  Dordt was fifth in the poll released two weeks ago.

"Our big drop in the poll this week is a strong reminder of the necessity to continually compete at a high level. We have not been playing high level volleyball lately and we are identifying those areas within that will help us do just that. I'm encouraged by the unity of our team and our willingness to push stronger ahead and grow in depth of our relationships while we play this game that we enjoy. The competitive schedule remains challenging as we will host undefeated Jamestown this week,” said Dordt volleyball coach Chad Hanson.

Dordt will face no. 1 Jamestown on Friday night, October 1 after nearly a week off after dropping a match to Northwestern.

The Great Plains Athletic Conference has seven teams rated in the top-25 poll with Jamestown (1), Midland (3), the College of Saint Mary (10), Dakota Wesleyan (13), Northwestern (15), Dordt (18) and Concordia (23).
