Timmermans Claims Weekly GPAC Award

(Wednesday, September 15; Sioux Center, Iowa)  The Great Plains Athletic Conference and Hauff Mid-America Sports have announced the volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played September 6-12 and Dordt’s Corrina Timmermans (Junior; Orange City, Iowa) has earned attacker-of-the week honors.

Timmermans averaged four kills per set with 2.2 digs as the Defenders posted a 4-1 record.  She also added 12 ace serves combined in a pair of sweeps against Michigan-Dearborn and Rocky Mountain.  Timmermans is averaging 4.03 kills per set for the Defenders with a 2.08 digs per set average and she is contributing 0.61 blocks per set for the Defenders who stand 10-1 this season and are rated no. 5 in the nation.

“Corrina had a great week of playing high level volleyball and has had a strong start to her junior season.  She led us in kills and served tough during the course of last week’s matches.  Her complete six rotation game continues to grow in all areas and she is discovering how to create scoring opportunities from different areas of the floor.  The joy has been to watch her continued development while keeping a humble team-first mentality as she seeks to honor the Lord with how she plays this game,” said Dordt volleyball coach Chad Hanson.

The Defenders are scheduled to face Jamestown on Wednesday, September 15 before having a week off hosting Dakota Wesleyan on September 22.
