Football Holds 19th In Poll

(Tuesday, September 14; Sioux Center, Iowa) The NAIA has released its Week One Coaches’ Top 25 Poll and the Dordt Defenders are 19th in the voting.

Dordt is 1-1 after a one point loss in week one to Midland and a convincing 61-10 win over Hastings on September 11. The Defenders dropped from 14th to 18th in the voting and gathered 107 points in the polling done by 18 coaches representing head coaches from each of the NAIA conferences.

“To have a .500 record and be in the top-20 is a testament to a strong conference and an improving reputation nationally.  Our team has a long way to go yet this season, but we are on the fast track towards a great season,” said Dordt football coach Joel Penner.

The Defenders will be at home to face Concordia on Saturday, September 21 before concluding the first month on the road against Doane.

Lindsey Wilson is the no. 1 rated team in the nation and is the defending national champion. GPAC members Northwestern and Morningside are second and third.
