Kolbrek Joins Defender Soccer

(Wednesday, May 12; Sioux Center, Iowa) Kelly Kolbrek, a senior at Maranatha Christian Academy (Minnesota), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender soccer program.

“Keely is the going to be a great fit for the Dordt women’s soccer team. She cares about her faith, dedicated to being a fantastic teammate and cares about her academics. She will do great Dordt in the fall,” said Dordt soccer coach Alex Durbin.

Kolbreck has played midfield during her high school career and scored four goals with six assists.  She has been a Minnesota All-State honoree and has also been named to the Skyline All-Conference team. She has also been a part of the Maplebrook Soccer Association.

“I want to grow in my faith and pursue learning at a university that values both my spiritual and educational development,” said Kolbrek.

Keely is the daughter of Jon and Tracey Kolbrek of Osseo, Minnesota. She plans to study Engineering.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA). 

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
