Baugher Signs On With Defender Basketball

(Tuesday, March 23; Sioux Center, Iowa) Joshua Baugher, a senior at Santiam Christian High School (Oregon), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.
“Josh has a lot of potential as a player and a leader. Being from Oregon, his senior season hasn’t started yet. At 6-6 he is versatile, a fierce competitor, and has the potential to be a leader of this program. We look forward to his development as a player, leader, and a man of faith,” said Dordt men’s basketball coach Brian Van Haaften.
Baugher is listed 6-6 and was a first team all-conference pick as a sophomore and a second-team selection as a freshman. He missed 2019-20 with an injury and the 2020-21 season is scheduled to begin in late May.
“I chose Dordt because of the great coaching staff and academics. I really liked the campus culture and the family-like atmosphere of the basketball team,” said Baugher.
Joshua is the son of Anthony and Cindy Baugher of Portland, Oregon He plans to study Health and Human Performance.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
