Senior Spotlight: Karsyn Winterfeld

Karsyn Winterfeld, an outside hitter from Sioux Center, Iowa, is a captain of the Dordt women's volleyball team. After transferring to Dordt following her freshman year, Karsyn has competed with the Defenders over the last two seasons. In 2019, she played in 28 matches and averaged 3.17 kills per game along with 2.37 digs and 5.35 receptions per game. On October 26, 2019, Karsyn had a career-high 27 kills against College of Saint Mary. So far this season, she is averaging 2.48 kills and 2.94 digs per game.

Last season, Karsyn received 2nd Team All-GPAC honors and was named an AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention. She also earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors in 2019.

“Karsyn has been a tremendous competitor through her seasons of playing as an outside hitter.  As a repeat captain this season, her leadership and love for her teammates has been a reliable constant while her continued love for the Lord has been felt by those she comes into contact with," said Head Coach Chad Hanson.

Karsyn is the daughter of Dan and Sara Winterfeld and studies exercise science at Dordt.
