Christians To Resign Coaching Position at Conclusion of Season

(Thursday, November 14; Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt University has announced men’s and women’s golf coach Mark Christians has resigned his position as men’s and women’s golf coach effective at the conclusion of the 2019-20 school year.
“Mark has used his position as golf coach to develop men and women as servant leaders,” said Dordt University Athletic Director Ross Douma. “His student-athletes exemplified the golf program’s core values of integrity, respect, responsibility and perseverance while competing in a Christian manner.”
Christians has coached the Dordt men’s program since 2003 and the women’s program since 2015. During his tenure 23 men and eight women have been named NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Seven of his men’s teams and four of his women’s teams earned NAIA Scholar-Team accolades.
Christians will continue to serve as chair of the Dordt University psychology department and Faculty Chair of the Academic senate. He also serves as a student advisor and teaches or has taught several courses in the psychology department since 2000.
A search for Dordt’s next golf coach will begin immediately.
