Venema To Run For Defenders

(Monday, June 17; Sioux Center, Iowa) Caleb Venema, a graduate of Abbotsford Christian Secondary (British Columbia), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender cross country and track programs.

Venema has a personal best of 7:03 in the 2,000 meter steeplechase.

"We are excited to have Caleb join our program.  He is a good fit for Dordt University and will bring experience to our distance squad, having already had experience racing the steeple chase.  I look forward to working with him the next four years and believe his best racing is in front of him," said Dordt cross country head coach/assistat track coach Nate Wolf.

Caleb is the son of John and Sandra Venema of Abbotsford, British Columbia.  He plans to study Engineering at Dordt.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian university rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
