Women's Cross Country No. 9 In NAIA Poll

(Thursday; October 11; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender women’s cross country team is ranked no. 9 in the NAIA Women’s Cross Country Coaches’ Poll released on Wednesday, October 10.

The Defenders were 9th in the last poll released a week ago and took 454 points in the poll. Dordt is four points out of eighth place and 53 points in front of Southern Oregon in 10th place.

“The ladies held their ninth spot after winning the Briar Cliff Invite.  The women have continued to race well and have been bolstered by a solid second pack that closed the 1-5 gap by just over 30 seconds at Briar Cliff.  The continued strong racing of our top-four and the tightening of the 1-5 and 1-7 gap will be important as we finish the season out over the next four weeks,” said Dordt College coach Nate Wolf.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of 22 head coaches representing each of the conferences in the NAIA. The next poll will be released October 17.

The Defenders next action will be Saturday, October 20 at the Mount Marty Invite in Yankton, South Dakota. The Mount Marty meet is the final meet before the GPAC Championship on Saturday, November 3.
