Nicholas Lawrence receives Steve Hiligan Superior Performance award

Nicholas Lawrence, executive chef for Dordt Dining Services, received the Steve Hiligan Superior Performance award for outstanding work.
“It is a great feeling to know that all the hard work you put into a job is being noticed,” said Lawrence. “It also makes me proud of my team here at Dordt. They work hard every day, and I would not be as successful as I have been without their help.”
During the past three years, Lawrence has pushed for more local products to be served at Dordt. His efforts have been successful, and Dordt College is able to inspect the quality of food before it is delivered, while also supporting local farmers.
Lawrence believes the connections Dordt Dining Services has with other departments is unique to Dordt. “Few other schools have a campus that comes together like ours does,” said Lawrence, who commends his team for their work in upholding that unique element. “The team that I work with cares about the students and about how they are served.”
The Steve Hiligan Superior Performance award is the highest award given by Creative Dining Services. Only two people receive this award. It is given to candidates who uphold the values of Creative Dining Services, display superior leadership qualities, promote professional growth both in themselves and in their staff, and have a willingness to help others.
