- Posted Wednesday, April 19, 2017
Dordt College senior Hope Kramer (Sioux Center), majoring in art: graphic design, fine arts, and art history, will present a senior show from April 27 to July 30. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, April 29, from 2 to 3 p.m.
The show consists of painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, prints, graphic design, and photography.
Hope says of her work:
“My artwork has a strong emphasis on traditional techniques and the mastering of classical elements. I enjoy creating realistic drawings and paintings that demonstrate craftsmanship and finesse. In this process, I seek to show that there is often more than meets the eye in the everyday things we see. I study aspects of my environment in close detail and I often discover more about God’s masterful design in everything we see in this world. My strength is working with a variety of materials, and I seek to produce work that is unique to the medium and shows truth beyond the subject matter.
I also enjoy design work that contains strong classical elements with modern flairs and twists. I enjoy unique color palettes as well as approaching design problems in new and exciting ways. I am continually taking notes of things in my environment that I find visually interesting and appealing; I use this knowledge to fuel my designs. Overall, I seek to create work that is inventive and unique.”
The community is welcome to visit Dordt’s free exhibits in the Campus Center Art Gallery, which is open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
