Webinar: Child Welfare Reimagined: Supporting Youth After Foster Care
Join Dordt University for a free professional development webinar.
It is widely known that children who have been removed from their familial home have often experienced significant trauma. However, far too frequently, these children are placed in a setting that does not have the training, tools, or resources to support healing, and in many instances, further exacerbates the child’s trauma. As they age out of care, many of these children will end up homeless, without the skills and supports they need to be successful as adults.
Discover how one youth emergency shelter in Iowa is working to meet this need for children involved in the child welfare system, both at a young age and as they transition into adulthood. From comprehensive trauma-informed approaches in the shelter setting, to engaging the community in unique and supportive housing for young adults and advocacy at the state and federal level, Crittenton Center is reimagining what it means to support children and youth in foster care — not just today, but for their future.
