Dordt will host one more prairie walk before winter on October 11 at 6:00 p.m. The community is invited to meet at the east side of the prairie near Dordt’s soccer field for the walk.
The event will include an introduction to the prairie, as well as opportunities to have their questions answered. Plants and insects will be identified. Colored handouts with photos of conspicuous prairie plants will be provided.
“This is an opportunity to get to know the fall flowering prairie species, and learn about prairie management activities unique to the fall season,” says Dr. Robert De Haan, professor of environmental studies. “Prairies are beautiful year round!”
The prairie walk is free and open to the public.
