Lund Picks Dordt College

(Tuesday, April 15; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Shaeler Lund, a senior at Hinton High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender basketball program.

Lund, a 6-0 forward, was a three-year regular for the Blackhawks and helped Hinton to a 22-3 record this season.  She averaged 16.3 points per game this season while grabbing 6.4 rebounds and handing out 4.5 assists per contest. 

She also averaged 3.0 steals per contest.  Lund earned first team all-conference honors from the War Eagle Conference twice and was a second-team selection once.  She was an all-region pick in 2013-14 and helped Hinton to back to back War Eagle Conference titles in 2012-13 and 2013-14.  During her career Lund scored over 900 points and grabbed 400 rebounds.

“Shaeler is a very athletic and versatile player who can shoot, pass defend and run. She has a great attitude and work ethic, and we are very excited to add a player of her character to our program and campus,” said Dordt College women’s basketball coach Craig Stiemsma.

Shaeler is the daughter of Anne and Rick Hazekamp and Eric Lund.  She plans to study psychology at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. Dordt’s athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,400 students.
