Program Overview

This program will help students build a foundation for a career in education-related and community-focused settings. Build practical knowledge in learning theory, human development, teaching methods, and curriculum design, all from a distinctly Christian perspective.

After completing the Education Studies (A.A. Degree), students can return to Dordt to complete their bachelor's degree in education.

What You'll Learn

The Education Studies (A.A.) degree will help you understand how people learn, grow, and develop from a Christian perspective. You’ll explore learning theory, human development, teaching methods, and curriculum design while considering how education can be used to serve others and glorify God.

What You Can Do

The Education Studies (A.A.) degree will prepare you to work in a variety of educational and community-focused settings such as youth ministries, museums, environmental education centers, interpretive centers, juvenile justice programs, social service organizations, and community education programs. It can also provide a foundation for graduate study in education-related fields.

Career Preparation

Dordt University's 2025 Career Outcome Rate was 99.7%! “I believe it is also, in part, indicative of the type of graduates we are encouraging our students to become—that is, graduates who don’t just learn for the sake of learning, but graduates who continue to learn for the sake of serving," said Dr. Ethan Brue, dean for technology and applied sciences. "Dordt is not just about training students for competence, but it is more about inviting students to embrace the goodness of work out of a deep care for the world.”

Noyce Scholars Program

Education students can also learn to teach STEM subjects at the secondary or post-secondary level. The Dordt Noyce Scholars Program has been established to encourage STEM students to consider a teaching profession.
