Giving Options

Dining Commons

Since 1963, the Dining Commons has served as the primary dining and food service facility on campus—providing students the opportunity to not only share a meal, but to form relationships, participate in devotion practice, and build community.

With growing on-campus undergraduate enrollment, the new Dining Commons will seat approximately 400 students in the main dining area with seating for an additional 200 students upstairs. The facility will provide a warm, open, and contemporary environment designed to maximize natural light and will include a seasonal outdoor dining terrace. All day service will accommodate students’ class schedules, internships, and co-curricular activities; while the servery and featured stations will offer unique menu options, inspired cuisine, locally sourced ingredients, and food allergen accommodations.

Connecting the Campus Center with the BJ Haan Auditorium, the new Dining Commons will support and enhance all that makes a Dordt University on-campus/residential experience exceptional.

The Rozenboom Family Athletic Center

The Rozenboom Family Athletic Center is home to the Dordt Recreation Center and the De Witt Gymnasium.

Over 50% of Dordt students participate in athletics. And with over 115 games and events in the Rozenboom last year, the renovation and expansion of the facility will provide an enhanced experience for students, student-athletes, coaches, fans, and community members alike.

Capitalizing on Dordt’s home court advantage, the project will include baseline seating and viewing with improved sight site lines and hospitality accommodations. Additional locker rooms, an expanded training room, coaches’ offices, and dance studio will promote athlete safety and health. And with the addition of air conditioning, an expanded south lobby, and Dordt Media Network Production Center, the project will help to ensure that connecting Defender Nation with our players and fans is a priority.

The Rozenboom Family Athletic Center supports a uniquely Christian athletic program and serves to exemplify the Defender Way.

B.J. Haan Auditorium

The B.J. Haan Auditorium serves as Dordt’s primary performance venue. It is also home to weekly chapel, the music department, music faculty offices, practice rooms, instrument storage and classrooms.

With increasing opportunities for student musicians, ensembles, and all students to worship God through music, the B.J. Haan Auditorium expansion and remodel will provide the space and accommodations needed for a rapidly growing program.

Connecting the B.J. Haan to the Campus Center through the new Dining Commons, the expansion will add faculty offices and rehearsal space, a 150-seat recital hall, restrooms, and an expanded lobby and elevator. Extensive technical upgrades including new HD audio and video recording and projection equipment help to ensure a quality in-person experience, while a digital production studio and enhanced live-stream capabilities invite students, alumni, parents, and friends from around the world to engage in worship and community.
