Mark Jansen recital March 1
February 23, 2004
Mark Jansen, Tucson, Arizona, will present his senior piano recital at the B.J. Haan Auditorium on Monday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. The recital and a reception immediately afterward are free and open to the public.
Jansen is a music major at Dordt College with an emphasis in piano performance and pedagogy. He is currently the student of Dr. Joan Ringerwole, and plans to pursue a master’s degree in composition.
Mark’s program consists of a diversity of styles, including classical music by Haydn, early and late Romantic styles by Brahms and Rachmaninoff, an impressionist composition by Griffes, and a 20th Century song by Ginastera.
Jansen has been awarded three meritorious awards for writing the scores of three Dordt College plays: “The Glass Menagerie,” “Nothing Sacred,” and “Ghostdance.” He was also the winner of the young artist division in an IMTA composition competition.
