Volleyball Adds Defensive Specialist

(Monday, August 11; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Gala Sofia Campos Oaxaca, a graduate of ITESM Campus Central de Veracruz, has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender volleyball program.

Projected as a defensive specialist, she had the best reception stats in Veracruz U.19 volleyball and was selected 2013 Best State Libero U.19.  She also competed for several teams that finished well in CONADEIP play.  CONADEIP is  the Comisión Nacional Deportiva Estudiantil de Instituciones Privadas which is the governing body for interscholastic play in Mexico.

Gala is the daughter of Georgina Oaxaca Perez and Cesar Campos Perez of Cordoba, Veracruz, Mexico. She plans to study mechanical engineering at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. Dordt’s athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).

U.S. News & World Report,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,400 students.
