Three Dordt Golfers Named Scholar-Athletes

(Tuesday, May 20; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Three Dordt College men’s golfers were named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the 2013-14 school year.

Nathan Middel (Senior; Lombard, Illinois) is a repeat honoree after graduating this spring.  Middel majored in Business Administration and Theology.  He played in 13 rounds of golf this season and had an 80.3 average.

Rees Beaver (Junior; Sioux Center, Iowa) and Trey Hugen (Junior; Elementary Education) both earned the honor for the first time.  Hugen played 14 rounds of golf and had an 81.6 average and Beaver played in nine rounds and had an 83.1 average.  Hugen is an Elementary Education major and Beaver majors in Biology.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 114 men’s golf student-athletes have been named 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

In order to be nominated a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
