Organ students place at contest

Two Dordt College students participated in the Young Artists Competition of the American Guild of Organists Region VI, held at the Westwood Lutheran Church in Minnetonka, Minn., on Saturday April 5. Dordt students win organ awards.

Andrew Schaap, a senior at Dordt, claimed second place in the competition, and received a prize of $900. Schaap and the first place winner from St. Olaf College will present a recital for the Twin Cities chapter of the American Guild of Organists on May 4. He is the son of Marvin and Carol Schaap, South Holland, Ill.

Also participating in the Young Artists Competition from Dordt College was Carrie Spronk, the daughter of Harlan and Diane Spronk, Edgerton, Minn. Carrie is a freshman at Dordt and received $100 for her performance in the event.

The seven students qualifying for the competition represented St. Olaf, Drake University, Luther College, Dordt College and others.
