Mixed Blood Theatre to present Theory of Mind at Dordt Oct. 15
September 26, 2012
Mixed Blood Theatre Company will present Theory of Mind at Dordt College’s B.J. Haan Auditorium on Monday, October 15, at 11 a.m. This free performance, sponsored by the Dordt College Co-Curricular Committee, is free and open to community members, students, faculty, and staff.
Theory of Mind is a sensitive yet unsentimental theatrical portrait of a young man with Asperger’s Syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder. Bill is a college-bound 17-year-old equipped with scholastic brilliance but low emotional intelligence. He has a keen self-awareness, an inability to read social cues, and a charming directness. Bill is uncertain about relationships, anxious about dating, and prone to taking everything he hears literally. His outing with a girl from his school becomes an insightful look at the tugs, shifts, and about-faces found on the autism spectrum.
Theory of Mind is written by Ken LaZebnik and is staged by Mixed Blood Artistic Director Jack Reuler. This 45-minute show is one of six productions toured annually by Mixed Blood, a Minneapolis-based multicultural theater company.
