Three Dordt students have photos published in major magazine

July 30, 2012

Three Dordt students’ photos have been selected for inclusion in the Photographer’s Forum Magazine College Edition. Cady Millage of Fordyce, Nebraska, and Joel Pasma of Ripon, California, are both Dordt seniors. Zac Edens of Kennewick, Washington, is a 2012 graduate.

More than 18,000 photographs were submitted by college photographers from the United States, Canada, and around the world. Only about 1,000 images were chosen for publication.

“When I heard that my image had been chosen to be published, I was excited,” said Pasma, a business administration major with a talent and love for photography. “It was satisfying knowing that the hours of practice and prep to make this image a reality had paid off.” His photo was a light painting shot at 11:30 at night, which took about 10 minutes to create.

Millage submitted a photo taken near her family’s home in Fordyce, Nebraska. The image captures the subject’s striking eyes of which Millage says, “A person’s eyes can tell so many stories and truths if you take the time to look deep enough.” Millage is a digital media production major.

Edens captured his shot while on a class field trip to New York City. The Andreas Center for Reformed Scholarship and Service funded the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the eight students who attended. Edens graduated with a degree in digital media production.
