He also has served as secretary of the Iowa College Foundation and as a member of the board of directors of the National Association Independent Colleges and Universities, Iowans for a Better Future, and the Barnabas Foundation.
Zylstra currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities and recently chaired its Presidential Search Committee. He is also a member of the Student Aid Committee of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
