Experience cultures from around the world at Cultural Fair

February 10, 2012

International cuisine, cultural dance, and fashion styles from around the world converge in a colorful and dynamic event at Dordt College.

The college’s Students Without Borders cross-cultural club is hosting the annual Cultural Fair on Saturday, February 18. The fair begins at 4 p.m. and the fashion show concludes the festivities from 5 to 6 p.m. in the De Yager Center located in the lower level of Dordt College’s Campus Center.

“This is a fun and lively cultural event for students, employees, and the community to celebrate the diversity of Dordt,” said Linda Van Wyk, coordinator of international students and off-campus programs for Dordt College. “There is something for everyone of all ages, including posters, games, activities, snacks, and, of course, the traditional clothing and performances during the fashion show.”

The Cultural Fair will showcase and engage students and community members in other cultures, and will ultimately help participants develop a broader understanding of God’s creation and a deeper appreciation of our place in it.

“The Cultural Fair is a great opportunity for students and the community to learn about other cultures and can serve as a platform for building friendships that cross cultures,” said Van Wyk. “It is a chance for us as Christians to appreciate the breadth and diversity of God’s kingdom; and, finally, it’s an opportunity to enjoy wonderful food, music, dancing, and celebration.”

This is a free event for people of all ages.
