Dordt Theater Department presents Twelfth Night

February 17, 2003

The Dordt Theater Department will perform at the TePaske Theater, Sioux Center High School, for six evenings in February and March. Performances are scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27-March 1, with repeat performances the following weekend, March 6-8. Curtain times are 8 p.m. each evening, with the exception of a 9 p.m. curtain time on Feb. 28.

A comedy by William Shakespeare, Twelfth Night, is this year’s stage production. While Shakespeare’s version took place in Illyria, the Dordt Theater version is staged in the state of California during the 1800’s gold rush. Characters include Viola masquerading as a cowboy; Orsino the sheriff trying to woo the hard-hearted Olivia; Sir Toby stealing money from the dim-witted Sir Andrew; Malvolio the arrogant servant being irreparably embarrassed; and the Fool, Feste, overseeing it all. This comedy was considered to be one of Shakespeare’s best, dealing with illusion, deception and the extraordinary things that love will cause us to do.

The box office opens Feb. 17 at 722-6430. Box office hours are 1-5 p.m on Monday through Friday, and 7-9 p.m. on Monday through Thursday evenings.

Ticket prices are $$7 for adults, $4 for students. For more information, call the box office at 722-6430.
