Organ showcase will fill the B.J. Haan Auditorium
October 17, 2011
The
magnificent sounds of Dordt College’s largest and grandest instrument, the Casavant pipe organ, will fill the B.J. Haan Auditorium, Saturday, October 22, at 2 p.m.
Performers include Dordt College organ students taking lessons this semester with organ instructors Matthew Geerlings and MaryLou Wielenga.
“The musical selections will showcase the different sounds of the Casavant pipe organ ranging from quiet flute stops to full organ sound,” said MaryLou Wielenga.
Pieces include “Songs of Peace” by Langlais, chorale preludes on “All Glory be to God on High,” and “From Heaven Above to Earth I Come,” as well as pieces by Bach and Brahms.
The organ showcase is part of this year’s Parent Weekend celebration taking place Friday and Saturday, October 21 and 22.
