Anna Kalfs and Bjorn Vaagensmith present joint music recital

Anna Kalfs and Bjorn Vaagensmith will present a joint clarinet and piano recital in the B.J. Haan Auditorium on Tuesday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m.

Kalfs, a Dordt College junior from Okabena, Minn., majoring in music education, will perform a variety of pieces, including Leonard Bernstein’s Sonata for Clarinet and Piano and two movements from Carl Maria von Weber’s Concerto in F minor. The highlight will be Elegy for Curtis Kalfs.

“This piece was composed by Dordt student Jonathan Posthuma in memory of my father who passed away this past fall,” said Kalfs. Corinne Campbell will accompany on the piano.

Vaagensmith is a Dordt College senior from Forest City, Iowa, majoring in engineering. He will perform several pieces on piano including Slavic Dances, Op 46 No. 12, by Antonin Dvorak; Hungarian Dances No. 5 in F-sharp minor by Johannes Brahms; and Malaguena by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona.
