Campus-Community Band, Jazz Band concert March 6

The Dordt College Campus-Community Band and the Jazz Band will perform Friday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

The Campus-Community Band is directed by Mr. Bradley Miedema. They will perform “Orlando Paladino Overture” by Joseph Haydn, selections from “The Phantom of the Opera” by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and “River of Life” by Steven Reineke, along with additional selections by Sir Hubert Parry and Brian Hogg.

The Jazz Band, directed by Scott Olson, will present a variety of songs from the big band era. Arrangements include “Chicago,” “St. Thomas,” and “I’ve Got the Music in Me.” Duke Ellington’s “In a Sentimental Mood” will feature Deborah Jude on the saxophone; Charles Mingus’ “Moaning” will feature Joel Pertzsch on the sax; and Horace Silver’s “Song for My Father” will feature John Rutgers on the trombone.

Admission to this performance is free, with a freewill offering received to benefit music scholarships at Dordt College.
