Dordt Women's Soccer Team Falls In National Tournament

The Dordt College Defender women's soccer season came to a close with a loss to the Park University Pirates in the NAIA National Tournament first round. The game was decided in penalty kicks after the two teams played 110 minutes to a 1-1 tie. Park advances to the NAIA Final Site Tournament with a 14-1-3 record while Dordt bows out with an 18-1-1 record.
Dordt got on the board at the 36:15 mark when Lindsay Baker knocked in a pass from Lindsay Landhuis and the 1-0 lead stood till halftime.

Park put the pressure on in the second half when Sophie Chapman scored unassisted at the 65:54 mark to knot the game and both teams withstood offensive charges at the end of regulation and the first and second overtime.

Women's Soccer

Park found the net with all five of their penalty kicks in the shootout with Ashley Maxwell getting the game winner. Dordt had their first kick glance off the crossbar and never took their fifth shot with the penalty kicks scored 5-3.

Dordt outshot the Pirates 10-6 and managed seven shots on frame to the Pirates' three. Megan Newland recorded six saves for Park while Jenna Noteboom managed two saves in goal for the Defenders.

Park advances to face either Lee (Tennessee) or Ohio Dominican in the second round of the NAIA National Tournament on December 1 or 2 in Daytona Beach, Florida while Dordt finishes their record setting season with an 18-1-1 mark.
