March 18, 2008
The Dordt College Concert Choir will present a home tour concert Friday, March 28, concluding a concert tour to the East Coast. The choir performed March 13-23 in venues throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Maryland, New York and Ohio.
The home concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Dordt’s B.J. Haan Auditorium. A free-will donation will be received to help defray tour expenses.
Dordt College’s 51-voice choir is under the director of Dr. Benjamin Kornelis. The program for the evening includes a wide range of music, including classical repertoire by Brahms, Casals, and Schûtz; contemporary compositions by Chilcott, Gjeilo, and Paulus; Russian, Norwegian and Welsh folk songs; and Lenten and Easter music.
Dordt College has more than 300 U.S. and international students who participate in the music program, with opportunities to perform in four choral groups, two orchestras, and three bands. Music scholarships are available to qualified students.
