Blades Learn National Tournament Draw

(Monday, February 25; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt Blades hockey team has learned their first round pairing for the ACHA Division III national hockey tournament to be played in Rochester, Minnesota, March 12-15.
The Blades will open tournament play on Wednesday, March 12 at 4:00 against Central Florida . The winner will play on Thursday at 4:30 against the Albany State-Saginaw Valley State winner while the losers would match up at 1:30 on Thursday. The Blades will play four games in four days with all 16 places played out in the tournament.
The Blades enter tournament play on the heels of back to back shutout wins at their regional tournament and bring a 22-8 mark into the tournament. The complete bracket and other tournament information can be found at http://www.rochsports.org/hockey/index.html
The Blades are coached by Nate van Niejenhuis and are led in scoring by Todd Bakker with 46 goals and 42 assists for 88 points while Nate Woudstra is the top assist man with 45 and 20 goals scored. Kevin Prins and Jared Rempel both have 53 points this season with Prins scoring 24 goals and assisting on 29 and Rempel has 22 goals and 31 assists. Ted Gibbons has spent the majority of the season in goal for the Blades with a 2.76 goals allowed average with four shutouts in over 1600 minutes of play.
