Black Hills adult learning trip offered

February 13, 2008

An opportunity for a six-day learning vacation is being offered to area adults June 1-6 by Dordt College. The motor coach tour begins in the Black Hills, and travels to the sand hills of Nebraska and back.

“The Great Plains Experience Revisited” companions the beauty of South Dakota and Nebraska with interesting, knowledgeable commentary by James C. Schaap and Robb De Haan, both professors at Dordt College.

Robb De Haan will pinpoint and describe prairie plants, flowers, and wildlife, while Schaap will share historical insights of the Lakota Sioux and Dutch immigrants. Each day includes a group devotional time and faculty-led commentary on the places visited.

Participants will explore the Niabrara River, buffalo ranches, historical spots like Wounded Knee and Ft. Thompson, and view the desolate beauty of the Badlands, for a new appreciation of the history, landscape, and culture of the Great Plains.

For more information or a brochure, contact Dianne De Wit at 712-722-6029. Information about the tour is also posted on-line.
