Dordt bands to perform May 4

The Dordt College Jazz Band, Campus-Community Band, and Concert Band will perform in concert Friday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

Dordt’s Jazz Band will be under the direction of Norman Gaines one last time, as Gaines will be retiring from that position this year. On the jazz band program for the evening is “Just in Time” (Jule Styne), “You Do Something To Me” (Cole Porter, with vocal solo by Becky Lancaster), “You Stepped Out of a Dream” (Gus Hahn), and “Drivin’” (Adrien Re, featuring seniors Marcel Visser and Matt Koelewyn).

Jazz Band

Dordt’s Campus-Community Band and Concert Band, both directed by Dr. Henry Duitman, will present a variety of music by Bach, Hindemith, and Sousa, and other composers.

The concert is free, with a freewill offering being received to benefit music scholarships. More than 300 U.S. and international students participate in music ensembles each year at Dordt College.
