April 9-14 is Justice Week at Dordt College
April 10, 2007
Justice Week is being held this week at Dordt College.
All week, the Justice Matters Club has a tent in front of the Classroom Building, open from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. This tent will focus on writing letters to our congress men and women (and also Canadian officials) regarding the sex trade. Notebooks recycled from breakfast cereal boxes and the unused side of recycled paper will also be given out, along with information about the ONE campaign. ONE campaign wrist bands will also be available for a dollar each.
Everyone concerned about social justice issues is urged to stop by and write a letter or two. Volunteers to man the tent during the week are also welcomed.
There will also be a smaller prayer tent between the B.J. Haan and the Campus Center all week. Please stop in and pray for Dordt’s campus community, the broader community, and for Christians around the world. Feel free to visit the tent anytime throughout the week and bring a friend to two as well.
On Tuesday, April 10, at 6 p.m., a soup supper at the Defender Grille will precede a 24 hour fast and prayer marathon. The prayer marathon will be in the prayer tent (sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in by Student Services in the Campus Center). At 7 p.m. in in C-160, Wrede Vogel of the Luke Society will discuss Christianity and Justice and his experiences with the Luke Society.
On Wednesday, April 11 at 6 p.m. those who participated in the 24 hour fast will join in prayer at the Defender Grille. At 7 p.m. in the Science Building Lecture Hall S-101, Jason Fileta of the Micah Challenge will talk on Global Poverty and the Micah challenge
