Dordt art display at new coffee shop

The opening of Butlers in Sioux Center will offer more than a taste treat for coffee lovers: the new coffeeshop will also be a treat for area art lovers, with walls displaying original artwork created by Dordt College art students.

Two groups of art students have contributed to the opening art display at Butlers, with much of their work available for purchase. Students will be on hand to discuss their art on Wednesday and Friday, Nov. 8 and 10, at 7:30 p.m.

The Wednesday night art group consists of Libby Dykstra, Crete, IL; Rob Haan, Sioux Center, IA; Caryn Nydam, Modesto, CA; Maggie Mellema, Sioux Center, IA; Katy Dekens, Lethbridge, AB; Joanna Esselink, Emo, ON; and Brett Van Andel, Lynden, WA.

Friday night artists are Dave Schierbeek,McBain, MI; Amanda Niewenhuis, Corsica, SD; Randi Unverzagt, Canton, SD; Tricia Waymire, Gentry, MO; Becca Postma, Clara City, MN; Lori De Jong, Ireton, IA; Nicole Vandenberg, Noval, ON; Rachel Palmer, Norfolk, VA; and Lauralee Stel, Lansing, IL.

The art will be on display through Nov. 28. Business hours are 6 a.m. through 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
