Webcast: May 5 Commencement at Dordt College

Dordt College will celebrate commencement of the 2006 graduating class at a ceremony in the B.J. Haan Auditorium on Friday, May 5, at 10 a.m.

This year’s graduating class consists of 271 students, with degrees conferred including Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Bachelor of Social Work, and Master of Education degrees. A reception for family and friends will follow in the recreation center, hosted by Dordt’s Alumni Association.

Dr. James Calvin Schaap, will present the commencement address, “Transformation.” Schaap teaches literature and writing at Dordt College, and he is the author of several novels, including Romey’s Place, In the Silence There Are Ghosts, The Secrets of Barneveld Calvary and Touches the Sky. Schaap’s prize-winning work also includes short stories, plays, devotionals and articles on the topic of faith and writing. He will soon be releasing two additional books, Crossing Over: Stories of Asian Refugee Christians, and In His Feathers, the edited journals of Sharon Bomgaars.

Seating in the B.J. Haan Auditorium is by ticket only and has been reserved for immediate family members of the graduates. Additional seating, with a live video feed, will be available in the Science and Technology Center (S101 and S108) and the Classroom Complex (C160).

Additionally, a live webcast will be available via RealAudio/Video.
