Somewhat True Tale at TePaske April 20-22

April 11, 2006

Robin Hood (Paul Krygsman) rehearses his aim for an archery contest, in which the winner claims the hand of Maid Marian (far right).

The Dordt College Theater Department will present the comedy The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood on Thursday, April 20, and Saturday, April 22. The 7 p.m. show is at the Te Paske Theatre in Sioux Center, where doors will open a half hour before the performance.

This entertaining comedy will be appreciated by upper-elementary age children to adults. Directed by Laura Berkompas (a Dordt senior majoring in theatre arts and directing) the ancient legend of Robin Hood is transformed into an amusing romp through Sherwood Forest, where the charming-but-egotistical Robin Hood discovers that even heroes need some important life lessons.

Paul Krygsman plays the lead role of Robin Hood, vying for the hand of the lovely Lady Marian, played by Kendra Triemstra.

Other cast members are Town’s Guy-Mark Bonnes; Prince John-Jesse Walhof; Sheriff-Jonathon Shaffstall; Friar Tuck-Joe Tiersma; Will Scarlet-Jake Silver; Allan Adale-Kevin Riemersma; Little John-Micah Schuurman; Lady in Waiting-Laura Mac Millian; Fawning Ladies-Melissa Schans, Amanda Arkema and Carmela Vanderploeg; and Guards-Andrew Tacoma and Dan Elgersma.

Advance reservations are recommended: they can be made on-line at reservations or call the box office at 712-722-6430 weekdays between 1-5 or 7-9 p.m.
