Dordt College will begin the new 2005-2006 academic year with a convocation ceremony on Thursday, August 25, at 11 a.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. The public is welcome to attend.

Convocations are a formal bringing together of the academic community to re-examine the learning institution’s vision and connection to a variety of disciplines and callings.

Speaking at the convocation will be Dr. Carl E. Zylstra, president of Dordt College. Dr. Zylstra will speak on the topic, “Taking Our Place in God’s World.” Dr. Zylstra is the third president of Dordt College, appointed to that position in October of 1996. Prior to the college presidency he was the pastor of two Christian Reformed congregations and also taught at Calvin Seminary. Dr. Zylstra earned his master of divinity degree from Calvin Theological Seminary and received a Ph.D. in practical theology from Princeton Theological Seminary.

Dr. Zylstra also hosts a weekly radio talk program, “Conversations” Friday mornings on KDCR radio station, discussing topics of contemporary interest with invited guests.
