March 8 concert

The Dordt College Campus Community Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band will present a joint performance Tuesday, March 8, 7:30 p.m. at the B.J. Haan Auditorium in Sioux Center.
The Campus-Community Band, directed by Dr. Henry Duitman, will open the program with a British march by Zo Elliot, followed by “Llwyn Onn,” by Brian Hogg; “Mystery on Mena Mountain” by Julie Giroux-West; and selections from “Les Misérables.”
A trombone choir will perform, “A Kensington Portrait,” by Jared Spears, followed by the Dordt College Concert Band, also directed by Dr. Duitman.
The concert band will present “Florentiner March;” “An Original Suite” by Gordon Jacob; “Homage to Machaut” by Ron Nelson; and “Suite Francaise” by Darius Milhaud.
The Dordt College Jazz Band, directed by Norman Gaines, will present a salute to Glenn Miller, with the songs “String of Pearls,” “Chatanooga Choo Choo” and “In the Mood.” Additional selections will include, “Hola, Senor Loco!” and “I Get A Kick Out of You.”
The concert is free, with a freewill offering being received to benefit music scholarships at Dordt.
Dordt College is a Christian liberal arts college with more than 300 U.S. and international students participating in ensembles, including four choral groups, two orchestras and three bands.
